Character Background and Description Julian lives off the land. Early in life, he moved from begging to stealing, generally through breaking and entering. He learned the hard way that pickpocketing was not his strength. In his mid teens, he pulled a couple of risky jobs against his better judgement, and used the money to acquire scavenging gear. Now, he could venture to the surface to find goods for sale, rather than stealing from others.
Recently, he managed to move goods out of Montagne to Grey Smoke itself, hoping to try for better luck there. He found a different kind of luck. His goods sold for less than he had hoped, but he had sold them to the right people. One of his buyers was intrigued by his surface goods; Julian admitted he had made the expedition for them himself. Before the day was up, the buyer had returned with his captain who "needed someone who could get through spots." Not in the best position to say no, Julian found himself swept into the crew of the F.S. Ademere, a small pirate vessel. Julian finds himself playing the infiltrator of whatever job they are on, often wreaking havoc on his anxiety. But he's never lived better. Near guarantee of food each meal, and the freedom to make his own expeditions back to the surface, longer and safer than before.
With his newfound status, Julian has finally trimmed his once-long brown hair, though nothing can make him taller than the five feet he barely occupies. He stays clean-shaven as often as he can, as it's these little things that calm him when he begins to panic. Above all, though, he cannot let his crew know he's gay. He's not sure whether what they'll think, but he is certain there will be bullying regardless.
